Margins Book & Music Festival 2012 Announced
We’re delighted to announce the 2012 Margins Book & Music Festival. This year we’re moving to the fantastic multi-arts venue The Arches and what a lineup we have for you.
Friday features a spectacular bill of new writing from Octavius Magazine and Scotland’s top literary mag Gutter Magazine. There’s top crime writing from Chris Brookmyre and Louise Welsh and the night rounds off with one of the best folk/indie bills Scotland can offer with Idlewild frontman Roddy Woomble, the ever-popular Withered Hand and rising star Alasdair Roberts.
Saturday includes a packed lineup with everything from Sky Sports pundit Graham Hunter discussing his new book on FC. Barcelona to a book launch of a new charity collection A Thousand Cranes with a foreword by the First Minister Alex Salmond. Other appearing writers include William McIllvanney, Sara Sheridan, Helen Fitzgerald, Don Paterson, Tom Leonard and Billy Letford. And Cargo’s very own Allan Wilson and Tracey S. Rosenberg.
Sunday boasts a unique event in a read-through of Alasdair Gray’s acclaimed play Fleck at the main auditorium in Oran Mor, designed and painted by Gray himself. It will feature writers and actors including Chiew Siah-Tei, Zoe Strachan and Carl MacDougall.
