Thanks for the tip. Monosyllabik doesn't seem to have a web presence so will keep an eye out when I'm in Mono.

Drusilla, I'd recommend Monosyllabik at Mono as a great night-very open and welcoming with a variety of different performers there.

There are no plans at the moment to bring back the Cargo nights. They are extremely expensive, time consuming and difficult to run but we hope further down the line this might be a possibility again.

Drusillamac came out of the closet to say:

At my school, English teachers would give the kids with 'poor' ability poetry or short stories to work on. The idea was they couldn't cope with something as complex as a 'proper' novel.



That's pretty sad, one of my favourite authors is Donald Barthelme and he works the business out of his short story collections. I'd say some of them border on longer works of poetry, 'The Balloon' being an obvious example.
